Description
Ladybird larvae eat several hundred aphids until they pupate, making them extremely effective as a natural pest control mechanism. After they metamorphose into adult ladybirds, they continue to feed on the aphids and are gorgeous to look at too, with their pretty red and black colouring. A great way to rid your garden of aphids!
The larvae of ladybirds are particularly suitable to treat spot aphid infestations as they are unable to fly away yet.
Important information:
- For the natural control of aphids outdoors
- Release the larvae immediately upon receipt
- Scatter them along with the carrier material or carefully place them on the plant with a brush.
- Release at least 2 larvae per infested branch
- Application can be carried out from April to September
- Do not treat the plant with chemical insecticides before or after release.
- In the case of a heavy aphid infestation, treat with a biological insecticide first and let dry completely.
Tip: To support ladybird larvae in their work, they need to be protected from ants. Ants benefit from the aphids and therefore simply pluck off ladybird larvae from plants. A quick solution to this problem is the Tangle-Trap/Ant Barrier by Andermatt Biogarten
