Savory is the perfect herb to cook with green beans. The leaves of summer savory have a pleasantly mild taste and can be added to many other dishes as well. With the terpenes and essential oils they contain, they round off hearty dishes particularly well.

Our tips:

• Needs light to germinate - do not cover seeds with soil, just press lightly
• Do not set out before the last late frosts
• Vegetative propagation via cuttings and root division possible
• The leaves can be harvested continuously
• The leaves are most aromatic during the flowering period
• Whole branches can be cut off, tied into bouquets and dried - the leaves can then be peeled off
• Requires loose, chalky soil
• Weak consumers of nutrients
• Suitable for balconies
• Good neighbours: tomatoes, beets, potatoes, cucumber, beans
• Crop rotation: 3 to 4 years
• True to type seeds
