Bionana Organic Thyme

This Mediterranean herb contains a variety of valuable essential oils, which make it not only a popular herb but also a tried and tested medicinal herb. It can be added to tomato sauces as well as various meat and fish dishes. Thyme has small, elliptical, hairless, silvery-shiny leaves with oil glands that give off the scent so typical of this herb. With its delicate pink and light purple flowers blooming from June to October, it is also a very decorative plant.

Our tips:

• Needs light to germinate - do not cover seeds with soil, just press lightly into soil
• Direct sowing only after the last frost
• Requires a well-drained and nutrient-poor soil
• Best grown in dry, warm to hot climates
• To grow in pots, a mix of soil with sand or expanded clay is recommended
• Hardly needs fertiliser - only recommended for plants that are more than two years old
• Watering is only recommended in extreme heat or on very sunny days
• It is best to harvest around noon and just before flowering
• Can be dried after the harvest
• Weak consumer of nutrients
• True to type seeds

• Good neighbours: rosemary, sage, strawberries
