Description

There are over 800 species of sage worldwide. The clary sage can be found from southwest Europe to Central Asia.

At the age of two, the plant grows pink and lilac coloured flowers that exude a wonderful, intensely spicy and sweet scent. They flower from June to mid-August and attract many insects. The large, somewhat rough leaves have a slightly bitter taste. The stately plants reach a height of 70-150 cm.

The large leaves of clary sage plant are traditionally baked into bread dough. The flowers can be dried and are suitable for bouquets and desserts.
