Description

The wonderful Golden Pine Bonsai can be grown indoors or outdoors is a real eye-catcher and brings you joy all year long.
The golden pine was introduced in Europe in 1827 and can grow to be 500 years old. The pines are mainly found in Pacific North America.

  • Botanical name: Pinus ponderosa
  • Can grow in city climates
  • Enjoys a sunny location

Cultivation:

  • You can grow the seeds indoors all year round. Just put the seeds in the fridge for 5 to 7 days, then plant them about 1 cm deep in moist soil.
  • Germination takes place after 4 to 10 weeks. After the seeds germinate, you can separate the saplings and transplant them.

Care:

  • The Golden Pine does not require much water. Water moderately, but only once the soil on the surface of the planter is dry to the touch. Fertilise once every 4 weeks from March to November with liquid bonsai fertiliser or organic slow-release fertiliser.
  • In the spring, cut back the annual shoots by approx. 1/3, as this will stimulate the new shoots with small needles. In the winter, it is best to thin out the old needles and cut off branches that are too dense so that the plant gets enough light.

Soil:

  • The soil mixture can consist of 50% garden soil, 50% coarse sand and peat. A mixture of three equal parts is also suitable.

Enjoy these rare plants all year round!
