Description
The persimmon plant is a slightly frost-resistant subtropical mountain plant that is about the size of a small apple tree. The fully ripe, dark orange persimmon fruit grow in autumn and late winter. The fruit does not contain tannic acid.
The pulp is very juicy, sweet and very tasty. In addition to enjoying the fruit, jam, fruit juice, chutneys and liqueurs can be made from it. Candied persimmons are a hit in Asia and the roasted seeds are used as substitutes for coffee. The patterned black wood is used for great carvings.
